STEWART. Rosetta Eleanor Stewart, 82, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Rev. Howard H. Stewart passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 19, 1935 in Hartford, daughter of the late Clarence and Grace (Jubrey) Van Allen she lived in Suffield all her life. Rosetta was a member of Third Baptist Church, Suffield most of her life, she was a former deaconess, usher, choir member, head of pastor’s aid and former first lady of Antioch Baptist Church, Hartford. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren; she loved her flower gardens, she was a great baker and cook which came in handy during her favorite holiday, Christmas. Rosetta took great pride being first lady of the church and all that went with that title. Her door was always open for anyone, she had a big heart and the ability to listen and comfort you. She was a bus driver for J.P. Morgan Bus Company in Suffield. Rosetta will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by five children, Darlene Powell of Suffield, Diane Stewart of Suffield, Steven Stewart of Somers, Mark Stewart (Rose Mary) of Windsor, Gregory Stewart of Suffield; two sisters, Doris Morgan and Elizabeth Arnold both of Suffield; seven grandsons, Lance Powell, Jr. (Nicole) of Enfield, Elisha Dorsey of NJ, Steven A. Stewart, Jr. of Agawam, MA, Nathaniel Dorsey of Suffield, Da’Saun Stewart of Chicopee, MA, Malachi Stewart of Windsor Locks, Kingston Stewart of Windsor Locks; a granddaughter, Aysha Moore of Suffield. She was predeceased by a son, Howard Stewart, Jr., a grandson, Isaac T. Dorsey, and a step brother, Larry Mansel. Her family will receive friends Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Third Baptist Church, 188 Kent Ave., Suffield. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2017, 11:00 AM at Third Baptist Church, Suffield. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Suffield.
