HOLYOKE: James S. "Jimmy" Kelaher, Jr., 56, of Holyoke died peacefully on December 29, 2016. Born in Washington, DC, April 15, 1960 the son of the late Atty. James Smith Kelaher, Sr. and Claire (Moriarty) Kelaher, Jimmy attended Holyoke Public Schools and enjoyed 28 years at Sunshine Village. Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving sister and best friend, Marjorie "Gigi" Kelaher, of Alexandria, VA and Holyoke, MA; along with several cousins. Jimmy was also predeceased by a special Aunt, Marjorie Moriarty. Jimmy's life revolved around his family and group homes where he thrived on time spent with his sister and "his staff" at 10 Meadowview. He taught us all immeasurable lessons in compassion and that the simplest things in life can truly bring you the most joy. His winning smile, sharp wit and genuine love of people will live forever in our hearts. The family would like to express its sincerest gratitude to the countless number of individuals that supported Jimmy throughout his lifetime. A very special thank you to Elizabeth "Ellie Elizabeth" Diaz-Colondres, simply put, "the best." There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Burial will follow at Saint Jerome Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
