HEPNER. Dr. George R. Hepner, 74, of Suffield, CT passed away unexpectedly in his home, Thursday, November 30, 2017. Born October 18, 1943 in Bolivia, son of the late Lothar and Charlotte (Brinnitzer) Hepner, he and his family came to the United States in 1958, and settled in Queens, NY. George graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1976. In 1977 he moved to CT to start his medical career where he completed his internship at Baystate Medical Center and was affiliated with Baystate Medical Center for the past 40 years. George dedicated his life to his medical practice; he received additional training in neonatal-perinatal medicine, which had been his main focus. Dr. Hepner was an active staff member at Baystate Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, and a courtesy staff member at CT Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hepner was also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Hepner had been currently practicing at Pediatric Services of Springfield where he started in 1986. Outside of his career, Dr. Hepner enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises. He was a very generous, kind, caring, thoughtful person, that always thought of others before himself. He is survived by a brother, Alex Hepner and his wife, Duska of Ft. Myers, FL; nieces and nephews, Lexy Onofrio and her husband, Gene, Marko Fassio, Andrew Hepner, Nikolas Hepner and his wife, Aubrey; grandnieces, Natalia Onofrio and Kenzie Hepner; and cousins in London, England and an aunt and cousins in Argentina. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
